Contract scope

What a Champkin contract covers.

There is a myriad of legal principles in motorsport contracts. Oral agreements may be binding, but proving the obligations is a minefield - especially if the parties end up in disagreement. A written agreement, drafted by someone who knows the sport, removes that risk.

  • Parties

Accurate recording of any corporate entity, plus parent guarantors and third-party funders.

  • The competition

Series, championship or one-off events specified in full.

  • Services included and excluded

What's in scope, what isn't - no ambiguity.

  • Eligibility of car and competitor

Class, licence and technical requirements baked in.

  • Payment obligations

Specific obligations regarding payment and the consequences of non-payment.

  • Appeals & protests during competition

Who handles them, who pays for them, who decides.

  • Prizes and awards

Allocation of prize money, points and championship credit.

  • Indemnities and warranties

Mutual protections against the things that go wrong on track.
